Albert Frey had longed to use the teachings of his friend, the very good genre interior designer LeCorbusier, when he was assigned to designing the San Jacinto Hotel in 1935. At the time, however, the frequent and permitted subject finesse in Palm Springs was Spanish body revival, and yet Mr. Frey's resulting reading of that elegance had the maraca of a modernist's make-up. Seventy-plus eld later, the hotel has ultimately turn what Mr. Frey (pronounced f-ray) well-meaning... a virtuous archetype of Desert Modernism.

Mr. Frey's creation, now noted as the Movie Colony Hotel, is a cluster of 16, townhouses and temporary apartment. Because the edifice is so compact, any freedom is a short time ago stairs from the dew pond and spa.
